It has been a crazy month.
Lol...There was a reason for that look on my face, and it was a very "Special" moment
Friends, acquaintances, strangers have been texted, facebooked, twittered, emailed, called...to support getting to zero HIV globally. It all started with an email.
See, I did not even know my nomination had been accepted when I received that email notifying me that I had been chosen out of over 850 nominees as one of eight finalists as an Eskimos Home-Game Scotiabank Game Changer for the 2014 CFL Season! It was a pleasant surprise, but it meant there were 7 contestants that had a 3 month head start on recruiting supporters. So of course, in true Nikky fashion I had to dive in head first -
So everybody I knew on this planet heard about this competition and I even met exactly 121 new people as a result. (The hustle was real!). Lessons were learned. Ribbon Rouge Foundation gained a whole lot of popularity, I got some epiphanies and new ideas...Y'all will be hearing and seeing a lot of me now... sorry.
Though I did not win the $25,000 for Ribbon Rouge, we still have a fantastic line up of local artists at this year's show. It will be as entertaining and educational as ever! I look forward to seeing where it goes this year and in the next years to come. I know I'll look back at this competition some day when I am lobbying for 25 mill for this cause, and this contest would seem like a piece of cake to that future Nikky.
I will be just as thankful for this opportunity, for all the support I received. I am truly thankful!
